X (Twitter) for business: posts that attract buyers, not just views
X is a text platform where many readers run businesses or make buying decisions. A post read by a few thousand of the right people can matter more than one seen by millions — so judge X by the conversations and customers it brings, not by views.
The anatomy of a post
- Hook, one or two lines: one true, specific, surprising claim your ideal client cares about.
- Body: real examples, numbers with their source, technical detail — in short lines or a numbered list.
- One next step: a free guide on an opt-in page, a reply, or your booking page.
Ask before posting: would the right person share or send this? Shares count for far more than likes.
Eight formats that work
- Numbered lists
- Day-by-day or week-by-week game plans
- Personal stories with a lesson
- Case-study breakdowns of well-known companies (credited)
- A strong, defensible take on your field
- Quote posts that add real commentary
- Long posts or threads from your latest video
- A free guide: what it contains and who it is for
Cadence
One to three posts a weekday is plenty; more than three or four a day tends to hurt. Write a month of posts in one or two sittings and schedule them, then spend a few minutes a day replying to comments and to relevant posts by peers and buyers.
Track leads per post
Give every linked post its own tracked link so you can see which posts bring enquiries and sales. Once a month, export your X analytics, add the leads per post, and look for what the best posts share — hook, format, topic, length. Run each post type around ten times before deciding whether it works.
Use AI without sounding like AI
Default AI drafts are wordy and generic. Give the model your ideal client in their own words, a strict structure (two-line hook, specifics, one call to action) and your best past posts — then rewrite every draft yourself.
Stay within the rules
No automated messages to people who like or reply, no automatic reposting of the same text, no income claims or rage-bait. Deliver free guides from an opt-in page with consent.
