How much does social media management cost in Japan? (2026)
Social media management (SNS運用代行) in Japan ranges from a few tens of thousands of yen to more than a million a month. The number only makes sense once you know what is included.
Typical price ranges in 2026
Price guides published in 2026 by Japanese agencies put the market roughly here, per month, before tax:
| Posting only | About ¥30,000–100,000: creating and scheduling posts, light comment replies. |
|---|---|
| Full operation | About ¥200,000–300,000: content, comment replies and reporting. |
| Strategy, several platforms, ads | ¥500,000 and up. |
| Set-up fee | Often ¥100,000–300,000 on top of the monthly fee. |
By platform, one 2026 guide lists roughly ¥100,000–300,000 a month for Instagram, ¥150,000–400,000 for TikTok, ¥200,000–600,000 for YouTube and ¥50,000–200,000 for X. Video-heavy platforms cost more because filming and editing take more work.
What actually drives the price
- Who does the thinking: strategy, research and scripts cost more than posting someone else's ideas — and matter more.
- Video or images: short video needs scripting, filming direction and editing.
- Native or reposted: content made for each platform costs more than one clip pushed everywhere, and usually performs better.
- Community management: replying to comments and messages takes daily time.
- What gets reported: follower counts are cheap to report; enquiries traced to each post take tracking work.
- Language: content for Japanese and English audiences is two jobs, not one.
Why some agencies cost more
Where we fit: Yurenji Digital no longer sells per-post social media management. We are a content marketing agency for businesses, brands and creators who already have an audience: we plan, write and build the content and the systems that turn attention into customers, done with you (a monthly retainer with no upfront fee, including paid ads built from proven posts) or done for you (a monthly retainer; prices in our Legal Notice). If you need posting and community management, use the checklist above to choose a management agency.
When a cheaper option is the right choice
- You already have a clear strategy and only need posts made and scheduled.
- Your average sale is small and local, so the fee has to stay low to make sense.
- You are testing whether a platform suits you before committing.
The middle option: done with you
If your team can film and edit, a done-with-you program that installs a system you keep is often better value than renting one. Ask any provider what you will own when you stop paying.
Seven questions to ask before you sign
- Who writes the strategy and scripts, and can I see the evidence behind each idea?
- Will each platform get content made for it, or one clip reposted everywhere?
- How many pieces a month, and what happens if you miss them?
- Do you need my passwords? (The answer should be no: official access roles exist on every major platform.)
- Will you report enquiries and sales, or only followers and views?
- Is there a minimum term, and what is the notice period?
- Do you ever buy followers, use engagement groups, or post ads without labelling them? (Undisclosed ads have been regulated in Japan as stealth marketing since October 2023.)
A simple rule
If one new customer is worth more than the monthly fee, full management can pay for itself with a few right buyers. If not, start with posting-only help, consulting or an audit, and grow from there.
